The museum is closed on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day. We have reduced hours on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.

Take the A, C, E to 14th Street, or the 1, 2, 3 to 14th Street. The museum is a 5-minute walk from either station.

Bus

M14, M20, and M23 buses stop within a block of the museum.

Limited street parking is available in the area. We recommend the following parking garages:

Library & Research Center

Our library houses a collection of over 50,000 volumes on art history, theory, and criticism, as well as artist monographs, exhibition catalogs, and periodicals. Open to researchers by appointment.

Coat Check & Lockers

Coat check service is available free of charge for all visitors. Self-service lockers are available for smaller items. Large bags, backpacks, and umbrellas must be checked.

Visitor Guidelines

To ensure a pleasant experience for all visitors and to protect our collection, please observe the following guidelines:

Photography

  • Non-flash photography is permitted in most galleries for personal, non-commercial use
  • Flash photography, tripods, selfie sticks, and video recording are not permitted
  • Some special exhibitions may prohibit photography entirely
  • Please be mindful of other visitors when taking photographs

Artwork Safety

  • Please maintain a distance of at least 18 inches from all artwork
  • Do not touch artwork unless explicitly invited to do so
  • Food and beverages are not permitted in the galleries
  • Backpacks and large bags must be checked

Visitor Conduct

  • Please speak quietly in the galleries
  • Cell phone conversations should be conducted outside the galleries
  • Children must be supervised at all times
  • Sketching with pencils is permitted in most galleries

The museum reserves the right to refuse entry or ask visitors to leave if these guidelines are not followed. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us preserve our collection for future generations.

Tours & Programs

Guided Tours

Our knowledgeable docents offer a variety of guided tours that provide insight into our collection and special exhibitions. All guided tours are included with museum admission.

Highlights Tour

A 60-minute introduction to the museum's most significant works.

Schedule: Daily at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM

Modern Perspectives Exhibition Tour

A 45-minute tour of our current special exhibition.

Schedule: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday at 1:00 PM

Architecture Tour

A 60-minute exploration of our historic building and its architectural features.

Schedule: Wednesday and Sunday at 3:00 PM

Tours begin at the Information Desk in the Main Lobby. No reservation required for individuals or small groups (fewer than 10 people).

Group Visits

We welcome groups of 10 or more visitors. Group visits must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance.

School Groups

We offer guided tours and interactive programs for K-12 school groups, tailored to different age levels and curriculum connections.
